Kazakhstan Cancels Visa Run for Foreigners
Astana – “QazMonitor “ – Foreigners without a visa can no longer “reset” their period of stay by temporarily leaving the country.
“QazMonitor “ report said that: “Kazakhstan has changed its rules for entry and stay for immigrants. The government decree will come into force on January 27, 2023, and Immigrants who do not require a visa to enter Kazakhstan are allowed to stay up to 30 calendar days from the date of crossing the state border and a total of 90 calendar days out of 180 calendar days”.
The Report added: “For nationals of EEU member states, the permitted period of stay is for 90 calendar days out of 180 calendar days from the date of crossing the border of Kazakhstan. The new restrictions do not apply to immigrants who have arrived in Kazakhstan on a visa and to those who have obtained a temporary residence permit. For them, the period of stay in the country is dictated by the expiration date of those documents”.
Permanent residents who are leaving Kazakhstan to apply for a permanent residence elsewhere are allowed no more than 30 calendar days after the documents are validated.
Citizens of other countries (which do not require a visa) can stay in Kazakhstan legally for only 90 days during a six-month period. Previously, foreigners could leave Kazakhstan and re-enter to “restart” the maximum period of stay in the country.
In the previous edition of the rules, there was no restriction on the stay of foreigners in the country for a six-month period. The Report added
